Witches Woods Tax District

Board of Directors and Flood and Erosion Control Board Meeting

January 11th 2011

 

Members present:   Glen Humes, Cliff Moon, Rande Chmura, Keith Pezzetti, Jack Gibbs, Steve Heath, Eric Werstler and Tom Pandolfi.  Absent: Margaret Houlihan Others Present: Fred Chmura.

 

Clerks Report:

A motion was made to accept the minutes from the November 9th 2010 meeting.  The motion was approved unanimously.

 

 

Roads:

Tom Pandolfi reported that we are ready for snow plowing and sanding.   Jamie Conover @ 860 420 9734 is available for driveway plowing.   Road repairs due to the fire on Crooked Trail Ext. were done by John Albrecht.

 

 

Health, fire and safety:

Steve Heath reported the house on Crooked Trail Ext. was completely destroyed by fire.  The immediate family needs have been taken care of.  Neighbors, the Red Cross and the Methodist church assisted the family.  A fund has been established to assist the family.  Residents will be notified of the fund in the next newsletter. 

Steve spoke to Bungee Fire Chief concerning the fire.  He stated that the fire department had no issues with access and roads.  Sanding was done after the fire to assist trucks in leaving.  The district will investigate installing stand pipes for water.  Further discussions with the Chief will take place.

  

Other Business – Steve Heath reported on the Witches Woods governance committee.  The draft covenants will be completed soon.  District rules and regulations will be established next.  Voting procedures and discussion at the next annual meeting are planned.

 

Lake , Dam and Beach:

Eric Werstler reported that he will attempt to keep the lake at the current level though the winter.  He also reported that a bald eagle has been spotted on the lake.

Aquatic Control has submitted their water management proposal for 2011.  Treatment prices are up about 4%.

 

A motion was made by Glen Humes and seconded by Cliff Moon to accept Aquatic Control’s proposal for water management for 2011.  The motion was approved unanimously.

Glen Humes will contact Tom Reed and Aquatic Control concerning the possibility of stocking fish. 

 

Treasurer’s Report:

Rande Chmura reviewed the financial report.  The district continues to be in excellent shape financially. 

 

Other Business:

Discussion about placing a street light at the Crooked Trail Ext. exit to route 198 took place.

The board agreed that approval by nearby residents must be obtained first.

Glen Humes will investigate improving the sight lines at the route 171 and Indian Spring Road exit by removing trees.

A motion to adjourn the meeting was made, seconded and carried unanimously.
